I was born and raised in Warrick County and graduated from Boonville High School. My wife, Jana, and I have lived in Newburgh for almost 25 years. We have three amazing grandchildren and three beautiful great grandchildren. I’m also a step father of three. My wife and I are homeowners in the great community of Newburgh, we love our neighborhood and our neighbors. I’ve been with the Warrick County Sheriff Department since 2005. The Sheriff Department has great leadership and cares about the community. I started getting involved in the community in the early 90’s when I began coaching basketball, I’ve coached all ages for over 20 years. My grandparents, Charles and Silvia Smith, were a huge influence in my life and served the Newburgh community. My grandfather Charles Smith served on Newburgh police department, fire department, Justice of the Peace and was a Shriner. My grandmother, Silvia Smith, ran the Newburgh senior center and was also honored by the Newburgh Council with her own Silvia Smith day. They always expressed to me the importance of being involved with your community and giving back. I believe in teamwork and building relationships, I want to hear from the residents, their opinions and ideas matter.
