Kevin
Brown
Sheriff
Warrick County
I have been a resident of Warrick County nearly my entire life and raised in Newburgh. I have over thirty years of service in law enforcement combined and it has been an honor serving the residents of Indiana, those that visit and the Warrick County community. I graduated in 1988 from Castle High School and later attended Vincennes University obtaining an Associate degree in Law Enforcement.
I began my law enforcement career in 1995 attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy while working for the City of Rockport as a Patrolman. In 1997 I was selected to attend the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. I was assigned to the Versailles Post upon graduation and later transferred to the Indiana Gaming Division as a Trooper/Detective at the Evansville Casino. In 1999 I transferred to the Evansville District and primarily patrolled Gibson County. I was then transferred to Warrick County in 2001 where I have spent the majority of my career serving this great community.
During my career with the Indiana State Police I had the opportunity to become a canine handler in 2008 and worked alongside my dual purpose partner, RYDR, for five years. In 2009 we were assigned to the Evansville District Criminal Interdiction team where our accomplishments and success were great with removing dangerous drugs from our communities. Over the course of my career I have held the position of Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon member, Background Investigator, Speed Timing Device instructor, and trainer for our department report management system.
I was promoted to District Squad Leader (Sergeant) in 2013 supervising Troopers in Gibson and Warrick counties and currently supervise our canine teams, specialists and Probationary Officers. I attended the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center in 2014 for a week-long course in Leadership, Management and Mastering Performance - Management in Law Enforcement. I have held the position of District Field Training Officer Coordinator the last five years after several years as a Field Training Officer and supervise new Troopers through field training to the completion of their probationary year. The success of this program is highly dependable on the collaboration of the training officers who are chosen based on their skills, knowledge, abilities and total job performance.
My mission as Warrick County Sheriff is to demonstrate ethical leadership with Integrity, Service and Accountability. I am committed to building trust and ensuring that every citizen in our community and those that visit are treated fairly with the dignity and the respect they deserve.
